The Singapore Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery - General Interest
ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the arts, sciences, and applications of information technology. With a world-wide membership ACM is a leading resource for computing professionals and students working in the various fields of Information Technology, and for interpreting the impact of information technology on society.
ACM is the world's oldest and largest educational and scientific computing society. Since 1947 ACM has provided a vital forum for the exchange of information, ideas, and discoveries. ACM has Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in 34 distinct areas of information technology that addresses varied interests - programming languages, graphics, computer-human interaction, and mobile communications, just to name a few. Each SIG organizes itself around those specific activities that best serve both its practitioner- and research-based constituencies. Many SIGs sponsor conferences and workshops and offer members reduced rates for registration and proceedings.
With the interest to provide more comprehensive support for ACM members in Singapore and the regional countries, the Singapore Chapter for ACM (General Interest) is set up. The goal of this chapter is to be able to establish the following goals:
- Support any ACM regional activities in Asia
- Create networking opportunities for ACM members through organising workshops, seminars & conferences.
- Provide busary and scholarship to students through the respective ACM Special Interest Groups.
We would like to encourage more to join the ACM as Professional Members or in the respective Special Interest Groups. Please log on to the membership links to find out more about the benefits of joining ACM.
We look forward to welcome you to the family of the Singapore Chapter for ACM (General Interest).
